(i) To implement laws, regulations, rules, guidelines and policies on overseas Chinese affairs, draft local regulations and rules on overseas Chinese affairs, and enact relevant policies and plans and organize implementation.
(ii) To deploy and coordinate overseas Chinese affairs of related departments and social organizations, guide city (county) and district work regarding overseas Chinese, and guide to carry out community overseas Chinese affairs work.
(iii) To research overseas Chinese at home and abroad and overseas Chinese affairs in Wuxi, offer information about overseas Chinese affairs to the Office of Overseas Chinese Affairs of the Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government, the Wuxi Municipal Party Committee and the Wuxi Municipal People’s Government, organize investigation on policies, theories and major problems of overseas Chinese affairs, and report condition of overseas Chinese affairs to departments concerning overseas Chinese.
(iv) To guide work regarding returned overseas Chinese and their relatives, organize and coordinate work concerning legal rights and interests maintenance of returned overseas Chinese and their relatives in China according to law, assist relevant departments in disposing emergency involving overseas Chinese, take part in supervision on major donation of overseas Chinese, and help relevant departments complete personal scheduling of representatives of returned overseas Chinese and their relatives.
(v) To guide and implement fellowship activities and services for overseas Chinese and their organizations, carry out fellowship activities for overseas Chinese in Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions, carry out overseas Chinese affairs towards Taiwan with relevant departments, and perform related approvals.
(vi) To guide and promote cooperation and exchange of economy and technology concerning overseas Chinese and coordinate economic complaints regarding overseas Chinese.
(vii) To guide and promote publicity and cultural exchange concerning overseas Chinese and Chinese language and culture education.
(viii) To perform other tasks assigned by the municipal government.
