Ancestral hall culture integrates into feelings of nation and country

Within the 0.3-square-kilometer area of Huishan Ancient Town, 118 ancestral halls form a set of “living fossil” to record the history of Wuxi—Huishan Ancestral Hall Cluster. In recent years, the old ancestral hall cluster has been injected into the spirits of the new ear, produced educational practice base of socialist core values and showed the feelings of nation and country. Recently, “Wuxi Practice”, integrating socialist core values into the construction of ancestral hall culture, drew China Research Association of Ideological and Political Work’s attention. According to the research association, the practice of Wuxi provided an enlightening sample for the whole country.
No.34 Qin Yuan Street, Huishan Ancient Town, near the Jichang Garden, with five golden Chinese characters “秦氏双孝苑” (Qins Double Filial Pieties Court) was once the “Qins Double Filial Pieties Ancestral Temple” to commemorate the descendants of Qin Guan, a writer in the Northern Song Dynasty. On the opening day of the court on June 25, 2017, a new plate of “Wuxi Municipal Socialist Core Values (the Culture of Being Filial to Parents and Loving Brothers and Sisters) Educational Practice Base” was installed in front of its gate.

Qin Zhiwei, Secretary General of Wuxi Qins Family Association, told the reporter, Qins Double Filial Pieties Ancestral Temple is the ancestral temple for Qin Dan and Qin Shi, two filial brothers in the Ming Dynasty. Last year, the ancestral temple was moved and rebuilt. Publicity Department of the CPC Wuxi Municipal Committee suggested to build the ancestral into the educational practice base of socialist core values and open to the public for free.
