Zhao Jianjun, mayor of Wuxi in Jiangsu province, recently met with Kim Young-jun, consul general of the Republic of Korea in Shanghai, during his visit to Wuxi, discussing supporting business development, expanding economic and trade cooperation, and deepening friendly exchanges.
Zhao expressed his gratitude to the consulate general of the Republic of Korea in Shanghai for its longstanding care and support for the development of Wuxi. He said that in recent years, Wuxi has prioritized high-quality development, which requires the contributions of South Korean-funded enterprises in the city.
He hoped that the consulate general would continue to play a constructive role in helping Wuxi gain a more comprehensive and accurate understanding of the needs of South Korean-funded enterprises in the city. Additionally, he encouraged the referral of more South Korean-funded companies specializing in integrated circuits and biomedicine to invest in Wuxi.
Zhao expressed his eagerness to foster closer ties with South Korea in the fields of culture, sports, healthcare, and education. He assured that Wuxi would provide high-quality and efficient services to South Korean companies and individuals working and living in the city.
Kim expressed his gratitude for the assistance that Wuxi has extended to South Korean-funded enterprises funded by South Koreans over the years. He expressed optimism that Wuxi would capitalize on opportunities such as visa-free policies and direct flights in order to enhance convenience for South Korean tourists and to offer improved services for South Korean companies that are investing and conducting business in Wuxi.
He also pledged that the consulate general will promote and support South Korean-funded enterprises in their development in Wuxi, facilitating deeper cooperation between the two regions in economic and trade exchanges, technological innovation, and cultural exchanges.
