To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand, the Wuxi Chinese Orchestra from Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province, held concerts in Thailand from June 13 to 14.
These concerts were delivered at the Confucius Institute at Suan Dusit Rajabhat University and the Chinese Cultural Center in Bangkok, presenting an audio-visual feast highlighting traditional Chinese culture.
Through a diverse range of musical styles, the concerts showcased the unique charm of traditional Chinese music, winning enthusiastic applause and sincere admiration from the audience.
The most remarkable segment was the performance of songs from the film and television works adapted from Jin Yong's novels. As the familiar songs arise, it immediately resonated with the audience, with many humming along to the melodies.
Jin's adapted TV series and the soundtracks are well-known among Thai audiences. Amid the nonstop applause, the orchestra gave a special encore performance that included a Thai song and the song Dance of the Golden Snake.
During this performance tour in Thailand, artists of the Wuxi Chinese Orchestra discussed with Thai teachers and students on topics such as classic music, music composition, performance techniques, and cultural heritage, deepening mutual understanding of the music culture between the two countries.
