As temperatures in Wuxi rise above 40 C, many locals are looking for relief in the city's natural cool spots.

One such gem is Shanjuan Cave in Yixing, renowned as the "Number One Cave of Yixing". The cave is divided into upper, middle, lower, and rear sections, all interconnected. It includes a water cave suitable for boat tours and an upper chamber that maintains a steady temperature of about 23 C, offering a cool retreat.

Another must-see is Linggu Cave, known as one of the "Three Wonders of Yixing" and decorated with ancient inscriptions. It has six large stone halls, with the third hall housing a pool called "Heavenly Palace Spring". The cave stays cool at about 16 C throughout the year.

Zhanggong Cave is a captivating site known for its history and natural beauty. Named after Taoist figures Zhang Daoling and Zhang Guolao, the cave complex consists of 72 interconnected chambers with different temperatures. Visitors can ascend via the Cloud Ladder and Sky Bridge to the summit, where they can take in sweeping views of Taihu Lake.

Furthermore, Huoran Cave in Mei Garden offers a unique blend of artificial and natural scenery. Yixing Muli Cave maintains an interior temperature of about 18 C.
