"Millennium Chang'an Meets Wuxi", a nighttime cultural and tourism event, recently began at Taihu Square in Wuxi, Jiangsu province, and will continue to enchant visitors until Oct 8.
Overnight, Taihu Square was transformed into the bustling Grand Tang Mall, a pedestrian area inspired by the Tang Dynasty (618-907) in Xi'an, Shaanxi province.
At 7 pm, as the lights illuminated the square, the air was filled with the melodious sounds of Tang Dynasty music. The ancient gates of Chang'an (the historical name for Xi'an) stood majestically, while lanterns and chime bells added to the vibrant atmosphere. Visitors strolled through the Tang-style market, enjoying a milennium-spanning cultural feast and experiencing the city's seamless blend of tradition and modernity.

As lively Tang Dynasty music played, a parade of performers in exquisite Tang costumes slowly approached, transporting visitors back to the prosperous era of the Tang Dynasty.
"It's like being in Xi'an, almost replicating Xi'an's vibrant nightlife in Wuxi," said a university student named Chen, dressed in hanfu. "This is more than just an event— it's a chance to deepen our appreciation for traditional culture."
Long lines formed at over 30 stalls offering Xi'an specialty foods, with delicacies such as roujiamo (Chinese meat sandwich), paomo (shredded pita bread soaked in mutton or beef soup), and ancient Chang'an-style plum soup attracting numerous food lovers.
"We brought in chefs from Xi'an, and the ingredients are also sourced locally to ensure authentic flavors," said a Xi'an food stall owner. Within an hour of opening, they had already sold over 40 servings of cold noodles.
