The stage at the Wuxi Grand Theatre's Opera Hall came alive as Marco Parisotto conducted his baton, leading the Wuxi Symphony Orchestra in a captivating performance of the symphony Great Music in Harmony on Sept 21.
This marked the opening of the 2025 Taihu Art Festival and the 24th China Shanghai International Arts Festival Wuxi Branch Venue. Over the next two months, more than 160 cultural events will be held, with 60 percent of tickets priced affordably.
Young erhu virtuoso Gao Bai performed a rendition of Bing Yu Tang, a piece composed by young female composer Zhou Jiaying, who masterfully blended the elements of Lingnan Yueju Opera and dragon boat rap into the music.
Led by Marco Parisotto, the Wuxi Symphony Orchestra conveyed the refined spirit of Dmitri Shostakovich's Symphony No 9 in E-Flat Major. "The Wuxi Symphony Orchestra is very young, but more importantly, it's very professional," Parisotto said.
