Wuxi has established itself as a pioneering city at the forefront of smart mobility innovation in China.
The city has implemented a large-scale deployment of driverless minibuses, marking a significant advancement in public transportation technology. These innovative, compact shuttles are fully autonomous, operating without the need for steering wheels or driver cabins.
Since mid-2024, the deployment of these microbuses has expanded across several key districts. They now serve the Wuxi Economic Development District, the historic urban area in Liangxi district, and Shanshui City in Binhu district. They service nearly 300 stops, operating on fixed routes while also offering an online ride-hailing option.
With a fleet of over 50 vehicles, these microbuses have transported hundreds of thousands of passengers. They offer a blend of efficiency, adaptability, and interactive onboard features, transforming them from mere transportation into a "moving showcase" of Wuxi's smart city innovations.
