2025 World Internet of Things Exposition showcases global industry innovations

The 2025 World Internet of Things Exposition (WIOT) commenced in Wuxi, Jiangsu province, on Friday, bringing together experts, scholars, and industry leaders from the global IoT sector to foster industry consensus.

The event was presided over by Jiang Feng, mayor of Wuxi, with Xin Changxing, Party secretary of Jiangsu province, attending the opening ceremony.

Shan Zhongde, vice-minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said at the ceremony that China is home to over 20 million IoT-related enterprises, with mobile IoT connections reaching 2.88 billion. The core IoT industry has grown to exceed 2.4 trillion yuan ($337.4 billion).

He highlighted that the rapid advancement of AI, embodied intelligence, and the industrial internet is creating vast opportunities for the expansion of IoT.

Wuxi has been known as the "model area" for IoT in China since it was designated as the National Sensor Network Innovation Demonstration Zone in 2009.

As one of the largest, most professional, and influential events in the global IoT sector, the expo has attracted over 5,000 experts and entrepreneurs from 56 countries and regions to Wuxi since 2016. It has also drawn more than 2 million offline visitors, facilitated over 300 projects with cooperation amounts exceeding 150 billion yuan, and attracted more than 1,200 high-level talents from around the world.
