The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has included Wuxi National Hi-Tech District (WND) in China's first batch of high-standard digital parks, according to a recent public notice.
The district has stepped up investment promotion this year, focusing on its modern industrial clusters. From January to August, it attracted 18 major industrial projects, each with an investment exceeding 1 billion yuan ($149.30 million), for a combined total exceeding 94.5 billion yuan.
Integrated circuits remain the WND's leading sector. Seven projects, each worth over 1 billion yuan, landed in the district this year, with total investment surpassing 62 billion yuan. A full industrial chain covering core materials, chip manufacturing, and packaging and testing is taking shape.
In artificial intelligence and computing, WND is developing everything from computing infrastructure to smart terminal applications. Agreements for the MetaX Yangtze River Delta Innovation Center and a domestic 10,000-GPU computing cluster, with a total investment of 2.5 billion yuan, have been signed. It is set to be Jiangsu's first AI computing center, powered by 10,000 domestically produced GPUs. China's first computing power equipment industrial park has also been unveiled in the district, with its first phase under construction.
Other sectors in WND, including optical communications and photoelectronics, biomedicine, and intelligent connected vehicles, are also attracting leading foreign companies and benchmark projects.
