Bogong Island in Wuxi, Jiangsu province, is set to come alive with musical performances on Oct 31, as the city celebrates its first anniversary of joining UNESCO's Creative Cities Network as China's first City of Music.
The island will host nine themed music zones, three roaming performance routes and a market featuring around 60 vendors. Free and open to all ages, the event requires no reservations, allowing visitors to explore performances at their own pace.

From traditional Chinese opera and folk music to street dance, live bands and international performers, the festival is expected to bring together musicians and audiences of different ages and backgrounds. Visitors can also try musical instruments, join impromptu performances, enjoy music-themed activities and browse local creative products.
Performances across the nine zones are scheduled for 2 to 3 pm and 4:30 to 7 pm, while the market will operate from 1 to 7 pm. Roaming acts will appear throughout the island without fixed schedules.

The event also reflects Wuxi's broader efforts to make music part of everyday life. Since November last year, Bogong Island has hosted more than 60 free performances, attracting over 100,000 visits. Music education initiatives have also reached hundreds of thousands of students across the city.
Following a day filled with music, the celebration will shift to sports. Starting at 7:30 pm, the island's main stage will serve as a public viewing site for the Jiangsu Football City League final, featuring Wuxi against Changzhou.
