Wuxi Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital signed a cooperation agreement with Russia's Sechenov University in Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province, on Aug 26.
In June, the two sides held an online meeting to thoroughly discuss and clarify their collaboration in cutting-edge fields such as acupuncture treatment for medication-overuse headaches, TCM treatment for migraines and multiple sclerosis-related conditions, and early diagnosis and intervention of Alzheimer's disease.
On the morning of the signing ceremony, experts from the affiliated hospital of Sechenov University experienced the unique charm of TCM at the Traditional Therapy Center of Wuxi Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital.
"This cooperation has built a bridge for joint efforts in non-pharmacological treatment, the integration of Chinese and Western medicine, and cutting-edge scientific research," said the deputy director of the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sechenov University. "Non-pharmacological therapies in TCM are an important supplement to Western medicine, especially in chronic pain management, rehabilitation treatment, and disease prevention."
She further noted that once these methods are promoted and applied in Sechenov University's clinical institutions, they will provide more diverse and gentle treatment options for patients with chronic pain, stroke, and post-traumatic rehabilitation, promoting the development of preventive medicine and stress-relief therapies and improving the quality of life for the people of Moscow.
Zhang Yafeng, deputy director of Wuxi Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, said, "The implementation of Longsha medical diagnosis methods and Du Family gold needle techniques, among other non-pharmacological therapies, in Moscow's public hospitals will promote TCM's global spread and is an important step forward in the global spread of Wuxi's TCM."
